'Tis the Season...to Help

Christmas season wasn't that long ago. During that time, so much emphasis was on what your wish list was: the material things that we can't take with us. Instead, we should daily focus on Christ's ultimate gift of baby Jesus and what gifts we can give others. Please share below what gifts you have (i.e. talents like drawing, services like mowing lawns, servant events like helping with the homeless dinner, helping an elderly neighbor) that you can share with others.

Friendship is...

Jess and Leslie have a unique friendship in Bridge to Terabithia. What are the strengths of their friendship? Make a connection to their friendship and describe your own strong friendship (Please DON'T give any names). What makes it so special? 5th graders, please comment below.

Stargirl - Part 1

"Whose affection do you value more, hers or the others?" That question is posed by Senor Saguaro to Leo when he is faced with the reality of Stargirl's popularity. Put yourself in his shoes and honestly reflect upon what you would do if you were him. 6th graders, please post below.

So, how was camp?

We're baaack! I hope that you all had a GREAT time at Carolina Creek! You might have faced challenging things, overcome obstacles, and grown closer to friends while there. Please let me know what you learned about yourself. For example, from going to camp, I've learned that I can conquer my fear of heights and shouldn't overanaylze (think about it too much). What about you?

Carolina Creek FAQ

In a very short time we will be traveling to Carolina Creek Christian Camp for our outdoor education. All 5th and 6th graders attend, leaving Wednesday, the 15th at about 9am and returning Friday, the 17th, at about 3:15pm. Information will be coming home soon, but you can also check out information below:

*Can I bring food to camp?

On the bus ride up you may bring a HEALTHY snack and drink, but it must be finished and thrown away before you exit the bus. No food is allowed at camp in the cabins. However, the food is great at camp and you get lunch and dinner Wednesday, 3 meals Thursday, and breakfast and lunch Friday.

*Can I bring electronics of any kind to camp?
No cell phones, portable gaming devices, ipods/mp3 players, etc. are allowed on the bus or at camp. Do not pack them, or they will be taken. The only electronic equipment you may bring is a camera, and you are responsible for it the entire trip.

*Should I bring money to camp?
You can bring money for souvenirs, which are usually purchased on the last day (i.e. caps, t-shirts, pencils, etc.) and a snack on the bus ride home. Again, you are responsible for your own money.

*How do I know what to pack?
You will be given a list of WHAT to pack and HOW it is to be packed (yes, there is a certain way, and only a certain number of bags are allowed) as we get closer to camp.

*Can my parents call me or can I call them while at camp?
No news is good news, so we do not allow students to make phone calls home, nor do we call parents, unless something needs to be addressed (i.e. running a fever, discipline issue). Don't worry! The teachers have cell phones and will be in touch with you if something were to happen. If you don't hear from us, all is well!

*What kind of activities do we do?
There is a lot of team building with "low rope" and "high rope" courses. High ropes include things like rock wall climbing and zip line. There is also swimming (weather permitting), archery, riflery, and most importantly, worship.

More to come!

Summer Time!

It's the age old question - "How was your summer?" I'll be showing you a video of my summer in class (since I can't get it to upload here). I hope all of you had a GREAT one! I'd like to know about yours, so please share your summer experiences below.
